On Children’s Day, a ceremony to hand over symbolic checks to the school was held at the County Special Schools Complex. Two checks totaling PLN 2,500 were presented on behalf of the “Bank Dziecięcych Uśmiechów” foundation by Danuta Pielak, director of Bank Zachodni in Bolesławiec. Teaching aids and rehabilitation equipment for children with motor and speech difficulties have already been purchased for PLN 2,000.

The project to establish a modern remedial and speech-therapy room at the school was created as early as March. The project was developed by Gabriela Skobierska and Iwona Banasiak. Both women are teachers at the County Special Schools Complex. The project became possible thanks to financial support from “Bank Dziecięcych Uśmiechów,” a foundation operating at Bank Zachodni.

Colorful construction sets, picture stories, puzzles and building blocks will support the motor development of children with intellectual disabilities. Massage devices, special school supplies and a therapeutic sandbox will be used to improve the mobility of students who use wheelchairs. The equipment purchased is highly valuable for children with disabilities. Thanks to it, they will be able to combine play with learning.

The amount from the second check was allocated to the school’s social-therapy common room. For PLN 500, supplies for the children’s common-room activities were purchased. Bogusława Filip, who leads common-room activities for children with disabilities, applied for the purchase of equipment for the common room.
