In a letter to the Lower Silesian Voivode, members of the company’s “Solidarity” union express their firm protest against the planned dismissal of the PWiK director. According to the letter’s authors, the voivode’s actions have a political undertone and are being carried out arbitrarily, without any consultation with the workforce. The letter goes on to say that the Works Committee positively assesses its cooperation with Józef Burniak, that PWiK is currently achieving very good financial results, that there is a full flow of information between management and employees, and that “director Józef Burniak is liked and respected.”
Lower Silesian Voivode Krzysztof Grzelczyk wants to dismiss Józef Burniak from his position as PWiK director after identifying irregularities. “An inspection carried out in February of this year revealed irregularities in the operation of PWiK. Negligence was found in the company’s organizational documentation, as well as a violation of the Public Procurement Law. The inspection results may lead to the termination of the director’s employment,” the voivode’s press office reports. Since Józef Burniak is a councillor, his employment relationship is protected. Therefore, the voivode asked the City Council for an opinion on his dismissal. The City Council will consider Józef Burniak’s dismissal during Wednesday’s session.
