The incident occurred overnight from 10 to 11 February. At around 2:00 a.m., police officers noticed a Volkswagen on the road being driven in a manner that made them suspect its driver was drunk. The officers’ suspicions were confirmed. It turned out that the driver—a 39-year-old resident of Wołów County—had a blood alcohol level of 1.8‰. The man’s driving licence was confiscated, and he was released.

That did not worry him, however. He got behind the wheel of the same car again and… an hour later was stopped once more for a roadside check, this time by a different police patrol. The test showed 1.6‰ of alcohol, and the irresponsible driver was taken into police custody.

The detained man faces up to two years in prison.
