Let us recall: the tender for the reconstruction of Oś Kartuska, from the intersection with ul. Neptuna to ul. Marsa, was won by Skanska. The work began in November last year. As Andrzej Szymkowiak, director of the Municipal Roads Authority, reports, the original design assumed that the road would continue to have an asphalt surface laid on the existing base. However, it turned out that the base itself was already heavily worn and did not meet technological standards. “It was therefore necessary to change the way the project would be carried out,” explains director Szymkowiak. “In other words, instead of an asphalt road, a paving-block surface will be laid.”

The remaining scope of work has not changed. The pedestrian path, laid with attractive paving blocks and accompanied by benches for resting, is already complete. Work on the road is well advanced. Thirty-two parking spaces are being created alongside it.

The project on Oś Kartuska is another road investment in the Kopernik housing estate. Last year, ul. Moniuszki, ul. Galaktyczna and ul. Plutona were reconstructed.
