On January 27, Legnica police were notified of the theft of a Ford Focus that had been parked in the courtyard of a tenement building in the city center. The car was nonfunctional—it had a damaged starter motor. The owner reported the theft. He had been informed of it by an acquaintance who noticed his car being towed by an Opel on the road leading out of Legnica.

The acquaintance followed the towed vehicle, but stopped out of concern for his safety. The perpetrators fled.

The Opel’s owner was arrested. The Ford was hidden on a property in Złotoryja County. Officers recovered the stolen car and arrested the property owner.

The arrested men are residents of Złotoryja County, aged 27 and 36. One will face charges of theft and the other of handling stolen goods. Both face up to five years in prison.
