On 2 May, a Gardening Festival was held in Kruszyna. The event attracted many people, and not only those interested in gardening. Until the afternoon, there were presentations of, among other things, flowers, trees and gardening equipment. The entertainment programme began in the afternoon. The wood-carving demonstration was undoubtedly one of the attractions. Ryszard Fundament from Nysa used a chainsaw to carve figures of a peasant and a peasant woman.

During the further part of Tuesday’s festival, numerous competitions were held. They included sawing wooden discs for time, carrying sacks of peat mixture, gardening knowledge tests and, finally, an original competition involving throwing a radio for distance. It was a radio specially designed for construction crews. The radio played continuously during the throw. It did not stop playing even after the longest throw, which reached 30 metres. The Gardening Festival ended with a dance party, during which the Forest band played.
