Wind gusts turned the traffic lights at the intersection of Żwirki i Wigury and Chrobrego streets. The signal for drivers approaching the intersection from Żwirki i Wigury Street was turned 90 degrees and looks as though it were intended for drivers traveling along Chrobrego Street from the direction of the railway station. Currently, yellow lights are flashing on all the signals within the intersection. Drivers are asked to exercise particular caution in this area.
This is not the only damage caused by the strong wind in Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County. From Friday to Saturday, the fire service had already intervened more than 20 times. Firefighters were mainly called out to remove trees blown down onto roads.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management reports that the strong wind will weaken overnight. However, renewed strengthening of the wind is expected during the day on Saturday (10 January). The wind is blowing from the northwest and may reach up to 90 km/h in gusts.
