The incident took place in Gryfów Śląski (Lwówek County). During the night, the officer on duty at the local police station received a report that the driver of a Mitsubishi passenger car had filled up with 53 litres of diesel fuel and fled the petrol station.

After a while, a patrol spotted a car matching the description. The driver was stopped for a road check. It turned out that the vehicle was occupied by a 32-year-old resident of Zgorzelec and a 29-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. The tank was full.

The perpetrators admitted their guilt. They will now answer for their actions before the court. They face a fine or arrest (the value of the stolen fuel did not exceed PLN 437.50, so both men will answer for a petty offence rather than a crime).
