The audience arriving for the concert was welcomed by the parish priest, Dr Andrzej Jarosiewicz, and the city mayor, Piotr Roman. The mayor extended New Year’s wishes to the residents of Bolesławiec and thanked two sponsors: Jan Cołokidziewmu (Ekonaft) and Sławomir Grzesiak (Ekoceramika) for supporting the municipal authorities in financing the concert.
“I am pleased that so many of you have come to today’s concert,” Piotr Roman told the audience. “I do not remember such an excellent turnout at a concert in the basilica, even though concerts in this exceptional place are always very popular. I thank Father Andrzej Jarosiewicz for lending us the sanctuary, as well as the director and staff of BOK-MCC for organising the event.”
The fourteen-member, two-generation orchestra of the Pospieszalski family gave an energetic, vibrant and excellently prepared concert. The carols performed and arranged by them were greatly enjoyed by the large audience.
