The incident took place on Tuesday, 23 December, in one of Legnica’s gaming arcades. The 79-year-old woman from Legnica came to the gaming arcade to briefly replace a colleague employed there. After 4 p.m., a young man entered the arcade and began playing one of the machines.
When the other people left the room, the man turned off the lights and attacked the woman, attempting to steal her handbag. A struggle ensued. The woman fought the attacker for some time. The bandit grabbed the victim, knocked her to the ground and kicked her. After a while, he managed to tear away the handbag containing PLN 200.
When the bandit fled, the brave elderly woman notified the police. One patrol arrested the attacker after a few minutes. The handbag was recovered.
The man arrested is a 29-year-old resident of Świdnica County. He had previously been convicted of similar offenses. At the time, he was on conditional release from prison.
Police will apply for his temporary detention. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
