25-year-old Andrzej Ś., acting alone, threatened his sister’s boyfriend and injured a friend with a machete, while together with others he stole a gaming machine and old batteries. The man is being held in temporary custody.

Ś. is addicted to alcohol, marijuana and amphetamine. He has a personality disorder. In 2007, he was convicted of robbery. In 2010, the court ordered the execution of his sentence to be carried out. He was released from prison in December 2012.

From January to September 2014, every time the defendant met his sister’s boyfriend, he threatened to beat him, shoot him or run over his legs with a car. The victim filed a report in June 2014.

Despite the ongoing proceedings, Andrzej Ś. did not stop making threats. He did so personally or through other people. On 17 July of that year, he injured an acquaintance with a machete merely because the man told Ś. to calm down, as the defendant was swearing and kicking a fence. The victim was drinking beer with two female acquaintances at the time. After being reprimanded, Andrzej Ś. began wrestling with him and then brought a machete, which he waved toward the victim. At one point, he injured the man’s left arm when the man raised it to protect himself from the blow.

The victim was bleeding heavily. An ambulance took him to a hospital in Legnica. It turned out that the wound was deep. It caused loss of sensation and an inability to straighten the fifth finger.

Andrzej Ś. was charged. The man admitted committing the crime and provided detailed explanations. The prosecutor imposed preventive measures on Ś. in the form of police supervision, combined with a ban on approaching the victims closer than 100 metres and a ban on contacting them.

During the night of 5–6 October, Andrzej Ś., acting together with 17-year-old Dawid Z. and a minor, Kacper I., stole 40 used batteries from outside an automotive shop. Their scrap value was approximately PLN 1,500.

A few days later, Ś., together with Z., 21-year-old Dominik N., minor I. and a fifth—still unidentified—man, stole a gaming machine worth PLN 12,000 from a grocery and general merchandise store in Chojnów. The machine contained approximately PLN 1,500 in cash.

The defendants carried the machine to a station wagon and drove it away, removing and dividing the cash. The machine has not been recovered. Following the incident, on 25 October of that year, the defendant was arrested again. At the prosecutor’s request, he was placed in temporary custody. On 19 November of that year, Dominik N. was also remanded in custody.

Andrzej Ś., questioned as a suspect, admitted committing all the acts with which he was charged and gave explanations. Dominik N. and Dawid Z. also confessed and provided explanations.

Dominik N. committed one more crime. On 13 November 2014, acting together with the fourth defendant, Sebastian P., he robbed a victim who, after shopping at a discount store, was walking through a darkened passage between Dąbrowskiego and Witosa streets. The perpetrators attacked him, knocked him to the ground and stole his money and phone, causing losses of PLN 230.

After this crime, Sebastian P. was placed in temporary custody. He admitted committing the crime.

P., N. and Ś. are repeat offenders. Andrzej Ś. faces up to 7.5 years in prison, Dawid Z. up to 5 years’ imprisonment, while Dominik N. and Sebastian P. could each be imprisoned for as long as 15 years.
