Police have detained a 19-year-old man suspected of theft, burglary and the unauthorized short-term use of two vehicles. Officers determined that in December this year, the man broke into the same car workshop twice, stealing two cars, a pressure washer and other items.
The Jelenia Góra resident started both vehicles using the original keys, which were in one of the workshop's rooms. The first time, he took a VW Golf for a drive. Police found the vehicle later that same day on one of the roads in the Jeżów Sudecki municipality. The Volkswagen had been abandoned and crashed. The officers informed the owner of the incident, and only then did he discover that someone had broken into his workshop.
Several days later, the Jelenia Góra resident broke into the same workshop, but this time he only drove away a Mercedes, which he left outside, by the door of the room.
What is more, it turned out that the 19-year-old had also stolen money from the cash register of a supermarket where he had briefly worked as a cashier.
The detainee faces up to 10 years in prison.
