The crime took place in one of the allotment gardens in Lubin County. The woman noticed that her phone and a device for measuring blood glucose levels (a glucometer) had disappeared from her handbag. The device was essential for a person with diabetes. The victim notified the police.
Officers detained two 19-year-old men. They established that one of them, taking advantage of the diabetic woman’s moment of inattention, stole the phone and glucometer from her handbag. The other helped hide the stolen property.
Police found the phone in one of the cellars. The teenagers threw away the glucometer because it was of no value to them.
Both suspects now face up to five years in prison.
