On Sunday, a basketball game was held in the sports hall of the Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych. The junior teams of StarBol Bolesławiec and Górnik Wałbrzych competed for the right to play in the quarterfinals of the Polish Championship. Unfortunately, the Bolesławiec team lost 93–101 to the visitors from Wałbrzych. The Bolesławiec team recorded the following results in the four quarters: 22:28, 30:15, 20:23, 23:35. Daniel Czernia scored the most points for StarBol (51). The next highest scorers were: Paweł Minciel (22), Zbigniew Owczarek (8), Paweł Wilas (7), Łukasz Chmielnicki (3), and Mariusz Sokal (2). Jacek Dolatowski and Savvas Halvantzis did not score any points.
Comment by the Bolesławiec team’s coach, Jarosław Leszczyński
"We played poorly in today’s game. Essentially, one player played well, while the rest of the team failed to fulfill their roles. If the tallest player had played at his normal level, I think things would have gone well. You cannot win a game when you have an unbalanced team, when the players do not perform at the same level, and when there is no support. The boys did not put up a fight, with the exception of Daniel Czernia, who scored half of the points in the game. In the final quarter, we interrupted the visitors’ plays, trying to reduce the deficit, but unfortunately we missed our free throws. The juniors did not succeed, but we have a success with the younger players. On Saturday, we defeated Spójnia Stargard Szczeciński (73:69) and advanced to the semifinals of the Polish Championship," said coach Jarosław Leszczyński.
