Officers from the Criminal Division of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec, as a result of operational activities, detained a 27-year-old man suspected of attempting to commit and committing robbery extortion. The man was detained when he arrived to collect PLN 2,000, which he had extorted through threats. In the course of further activities, police officers established and confirmed that, acting in a similar manner, the suspect had committed robbery extortion in July this year involving PLN 2,500. Police officers are continuing to clarify all the circumstances of these incidents and are checking whether the man has committed any other offences of this type.
At the request of the Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office, the court ordered the man’s pre-trial detention for a period of three months. Robbery extortion is punishable by up to 10 years’ imprisonment; however, in the case of the 27-year-old, who has already committed such an offence, the court may decide on a harsher sentence.
