“Words fly away, but writing remains” – so goes the Latin maxim that was the guiding idea of the fourth edition of the Children’s and Youth Literary Works Review. In the auditorium of the Piechowicki Ośrodek Kultury, 20 young authors from Piechowice, Szklarska Poręba and Jelenia Góra presented their poems and short stories before an outstanding jury and a large audience.

This year’s jury was joined by two outstanding figures from Jelenia Góra’s cultural scene, in addition to the permanent, excellent and reliable female jurors Joanna Chmielewska, Halina Wieczorek and Kinga Szczap: Alina Obidniak, awarded the Gloria Artis Medal this year and longtime director of the C.K. Norwid Theatre in Jelenia Góra, and the well-known author of poems and short stories, Jan Owczarek.

    3. Emilia Cichoń for the work “A Little Drop” (Primary School No. 1 in Piechowice)
  • in the prose category – students in grades IV–VI of primary schools
    1. Maja Michalik for the work “The Myth of Alkmea, Goddess of Colors” (Szklarska Poręba Primary School)
    2. Oskar Kłyszyński for the work “The Detective” (Primary School No. 1 in Piechowice)
    3. Emilia Wajdowicz for the work “Unbeaten Ruffian” (Szklarska Poręba Primary School)
  • in the poetry category – students of secondary schools
    • Jakub Najczuk for the work “For You, M.” (Piechowice Middle School) – honorable mention
    • Bartosz Ciachera for the work “Never Be Ashamed of Polishness” (ZSTiL Piechowice) – honorable mention
  • in the prose category – students of secondary schools
    1. Jakub Kukulski for the work “Unexplained?” (ZSO Jelenia Góra)
    2. Anna Palińska for the work “The Girl from Nowhere” (Middle School No. 1 in Jelenia Góra)
    3. Anna Jazieniecka for the work “The Pink Umbrella” (ZST “Mechanik” Jelenia Góra).

The organizer’s commendations additionally went to: Sandra Śmigasiewicz for the short story “Modernity” (ZSTiL Piechowice), Daniel Cierpiał for the poem “Loneliness” (Primary School No. 1 in Piechowice), and Wiktoria Zawadziło for the poem “The Daisy and the Bee” (Primary School No. 1 in Piechowice).
