The market is an old merchant tradition. Its foundation is the rich selection offered by exhibitors, traders and food vendors. All it takes is a stroll among the diverse stalls, and ideas for small and large Christmas presents come to mind by themselves. The smell of baked apples and roasted almonds evokes childhood memories, hot spiced wine warms you up, and the delicacies on offer tempt you.

Following last year's success, a curling rink will appear at the market for the second time. This winter team sport is enjoyable not only for the players but also for the spectators. The curling rink can be rented during the market's opening hours; sets for adults and children have been prepared. After the sporting excitement, it is worth visiting the Silesian Museum for the annual Art and Artistic Handicraft Fair.

As usual, many of the market's attractions are aimed at children. A creative-play hut, a heated tent where visitors can read and sing, a miniature train, a Christmas bakery, gingerbread-heart painting and many other activities—after all, children experience and feel the magic of Christmas most fully!

The market programme and information in Polish can be found at www.schlesischer-christkindelmarkt-goerlitz.de.
