It is my honor to present myself at my first photography exhibition in your city of Zgorzelec. I have been a resident of Zawidów for over 50 years. I was born there, began my education there, started a family there and began my professional career there. I would like to present to you my vision of the nearby areas located in the Izera Foothills and the Karkonosze Mountains. And beyond. I hope that the frames captured through my lens show places that many of us have visited before. The undulating terrain of our surroundings beautifully bends the light, creating shadows and half-shadows, giving a place and a moment a sense of mystery in a way that only nature can. I was fascinated by this play of light; my attentiveness to detail made it possible to seek out these places at the right time of day. It is a kind of escape from everyday life and mundane problems. A passion for walking and cycling is one way of discovering these places. I cannot paint with a brush, so I try to paint with a lens. I am learning to see the world from the other side of the frame. Although I have been professionally involved in finance for over 40 years, I have fallen in love with photography. I bought my first camera seven years ago. It was a KODAKV 530. Photography awakens emotions, enthusiasm and the excitement I need for effective action and creative work. It has become a remedy for boredom, stress and everyday life. The most important things have become planning a place to photograph, determining the route, and waiting for the right moment out of the 365 days of the calendar—for one second out of the year's 525,600 minutes. It has become my passion, something special in my life. It gives me wings when I spot something in the viewfinder in a fraction of a second.
The exhibition opening of works by Anna Domka will take place on Friday, November 21, at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Zgorzelec. It begins at 5:00 p.m..
