A ceremonial opening with the participation of the artists, during which the names of the winners will be announced and awards presented, will take place on 21 November (Friday) at 7:00 p.m. at the Gallery of Art (1 Cathedral Square). Admission is free.
A total of 76 artists from fourteen art universities across Poland entered this year’s edition. Of the 228 submitted works, 74 paintings by 25 young painters were selected for the exhibition. The second stage of the jury’s deliberations took place on 7 November. During the meeting, the committee selected the winners and allocated the awards. However, the winners will only be announced during the ceremonial opening. The paintings selected for the exhibition can already be viewed at the Gallery of Art and the Ring Gallery.
Let us recall that for twenty-three years the Gallery of Art in Legnica has organized “Promocje”—an exhibition and competition for graduates of art universities in Poland who received their diplomas from painting studios. The main prize is a solo exhibition of the winner, accompanied by a catalogue.
The idea behind “Promocje” is to present and document the creative explorations of the youngest generation of painters and to help young artists begin their mature artistic lives. The Gallery’s exhibition, publishing and promotional activities are intended to serve this purpose. The organizers hope that “Promocje” will help participants establish a presence in the art market and, above all, enable their names and work to become part of the information flow concerning the latest developments in Polish art.
