– This year, we were unable to field our optimal lineup because of regulatory changes allowing 50% of the players in the squad to be over 35 years old – said the soldiers from 10BKPanc in Świętoszów.

Ten teams took part in the competition and were divided into two groups: A and B. Our representative team was placed in Group A. Alongside the armored soldiers, the group included: the 5th Chemical Regiment (5pchem) from Tarnowskie Góry, the 1st Engineer Regiment (1psap) from Brzeg, the 4th Anti-Aircraft Regiment (4pplot) from Czerwieńsk, and the Training Centre for Engineer and Chemical Forces (CSWiCh) in Wrocław.

Group B included: the 11th Command Battalion (11bdow) from Żagań, the 23rd Artillery Regiment (23pa) from Bolesławiec, the 6th Airborne Brigade (6BPD) from Kraków, the 17th Greater Poland Mechanized Brigade (17WBZ) from Międzyrzecz, and the 21st Podhale Rifle Brigade (21BSP) from Rzeszów.

Our team won all its group matches, scoring the highest number of goals, and thus finished first in the group. The hosts’ team also advanced to the semifinals. From Group B, 23pa (first place in the group) and 6BDP qualified for the semifinals.

In the semifinal, our brigade’s representative team played against the team from Kraków, winning 2–1 after a hard-fought match.

In the final, the armored soldiers faced the host team, against which our squad had competed in the group stage. The hosts, spurred on by the support of the many Brzeg fans who had come to the match, with the regiment commander at their head, played hard and with remarkable commitment. However, our team had “unfinished business” from the previous year, when it was eliminated in the semifinal by the sappers of 10BKPanc, losing on penalties.

This time, our representative team was clearly better. It matched the opponents’ uncompromising style of play, and the match turned into a fierce, shoulder-to-shoulder battle. After an evenly balanced opening, the armored soldiers established clear dominance on the pitch and steadily increased their lead until the very end, controlling the course of the match and defeating their rivals 6–1. In this way, the cup and championship title returned to Świętoszów.

In addition, the award for the Championships’ top scorer, with 10 goals, went to st. szer. Marcin Łojko.
