The accident occurred before 7:00 a.m. on the A4 motorway near the Golnice exit. A Ford Sierra passenger car, bearing Silesian registration plates, collided head-on with a truck. As a result of the collision, the Ford veered onto a section of the new motorway, which was not yet in use, and slid down an embankment.

Firefighters had to pull the man who was driving the vehicle and an unconscious woman from the wreckage. Both were immediately taken by ambulance to the hospital in Bolesławiec. Unfortunately, the woman died in the ambulance. Two more people, a boy and a man, who had also been travelling in the Ford, were taken to hospital.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. The motorway surface was wet that morning.
