The project ended on October 25. Forty-three people took part in the final class: 19 from the Czech Republic and 24 from Poland. More than 70 dancers participated in the milonga. This shows how popular Argentine tango is both in Bolesławiec and in Jablonec nad Nisou.
For the first time during this project, the classes were led by outstanding Warsaw instructors Paulina and Jan Woźniak. During the traditional milonga, the instructor couple performed a special showcase. They are the longest-serving pair among Polish tango teachers and were the first in Poland to teach tango based on communication between partners, without predetermined choreography.
The dancers were admired by deputy mayors Iwona Mandżuk-Dudek and Kornel Filipowicz. BOK-MCC Director Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska offered her warm congratulations to the president of the “Cafe Tango” Association on the completion of the project.
The project was written and coordinated by Dariusz Uściński. As part of the “Cafe Tango Polish-Czech Dance Workshops” project, one-day workshops were held at BOK-MCC over five consecutive months, from June to October 2014, in two groups: beginner and intermediate. Each Saturday, the classes ended with an evening milonga, a joint gathering of all the couples, where the skills acquired during the workshops were put into practice. The milonga allowed participants to try out the techniques and steps learned in class, dance with different partners, and exchange experiences with people with a similar or considerably longer dancing background. The classes were led by: Aleksandra and Tomasz Rutkowscy from Wrocław, Piotr Woźniak and Ida Zagrzejewska from Warsaw, and Katarzyna Czech and Tymoteusz Ley from Kraków.
“The ‘Cafe Tango – Polish-Czech Dance Workshops’ project was co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund and by state budget funds, with the support of the Nysa Euroregion.”
