On Saturday, 18 October, a ceremony was held in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki to hand over an Iveco Eurocargo ML 150E28 4x4 fire engine to the local Volunteer Fire Service unit.
– The new fire engine was purchased with funds from the Warta Bolesławiecka Municipal Office. It will replace the well-worn, 36-year-old Mercedes 1113, which the firefighters previously used for rescue and firefighting operations – says OSP president Jan Kopeć.
The ceremony was preceded by a Mass at the Church of Saint Hedwig of Silesia. During the service, Rev. Andrzej Łuczyński wished the firefighters that the new vehicle would help them in their responsible work and be used rarely for rescue and firefighting operations, and more often for training and ceremonial purposes.
After Mass, the firefighters, invited guests, local government representatives and residents marched to the square in front of the newly built fire station, where Warta Bolesławiecka Municipal Head Mirosław Haniszewski and Municipal Council Chairman Adam Maksymczyk ceremonially handed the keys to the new vehicle to the unit commander.
The commander of the OSP unit in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, Marcin Kowal, thanked the authorities and residents of the municipality on behalf of the entire unit, while assuring them that the firefighters would take care of the new vehicle so that it could serve the local community for as long as possible.
Firefighters from Warta Bolesławiecka, Raciborowice and Jurków also took part in the ceremony.
