It gives local foundations, associations and community activists the chance to receive one of 305 financial grants, worth a total of PLN 1.5 million. The grants support the implementation of the most interesting local projects that transform public spaces.
The founders want to provide financial support for initiatives involving: the development of public spaces, environmental protection, the preservation of historic monuments, the care and creation of memorial sites, building intergenerational communities and strengthening local ties, as well as promoting and commemorating people who have had a positive impact on their immediate surroundings.
The competition is open to anyone with an idea for a specific change in their area who submits it through any foundation, association or non-governmental organisation, as well as through a school, community centre or other local-government institution. The submitted projects can be voted for online.
Projects can be submitted via the application on the website www.bzwbk.pl/tumieszkamtuzmieniam from 22 September to 23 November 2014. The implementation of the 15 best local initiatives will be supported with grants of PLN 20,000. In addition, the bank will award 30 prizes of PLN 10,000, 100 prizes of PLN 5,000 and 160 prizes worth PLN 2,500.
