The incident occurred on Monday, October 20, after 9:20 p.m. in Chojnów. The perpetrator approached the victim on the street and asked for a cigarette. The man addressed took cigarettes and money out of his pocket. The 24-year-old then snatched the banknotes from the Poznań resident's hand and began to flee.
The owner caught up with the thief, but the perpetrator then struck him in the face several times. Nevertheless, the Poznań resident managed to hold the attacker until the police arrived.
The victim did not want medical assistance. The 24-year-old suspect is a resident of Suwałki and had already been convicted of similar offences. The man was taken into police custody. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
