We welcome you today, on Monday—or rather, already looking ahead to Tuesday—with a quote from The Deluge. This new week, in case you do not remember, is marked by The Deluge at our Poza Nova cinema, and will remain so through Wednesday inclusive. Digitally restored and newly edited, “Potop Redivivus” is screened at 5:01 p.m.. Tickets cost PLN 11. My lords, this screening is compulsory!
On Tuesday and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Zgorzelec’s top students will “take over” our cultural centre. On these days, they will receive the Mayor of Zgorzelec City Scholarships—for academic results, sporting achievements and artistic successes. Congratulations. The scholarships will be presented, naturally, by Mayor Rafał Gronicz. Primary-school pupils go first. The middle-school students will receive their scholarships next week.
On Wednesday, there will be another lecture in the Cross-Border University of the Third Age. It will be delivered by Izabela Marcinkowska, the District Consumer Ombudsman in Zgorzelec, who will try to answer the question of whether we, as customers and consumers, are always right.
We have a special invitation for everyone for Saturday and Sunday.
First, Saturday and the FILM-AND-CONCERT FAREWELL TO SUMMER. We have been organising this event regularly for many years. During that time, artists and bands performing the musical accompaniment to films have appeared beneath the screen. Unlike previous editions, this year’s farewell to summer will be the most spectacular ever! This is thanks to the Wrocław band Icon of Evil, whose music is based on the heaviest rock ’n’ roll sounds. The band’s performance will be preceded by a film screening. Tickets cost PLN 20.
And on Sunday, an amazing concert. The name Katarzyna Groniec says it all. An extraordinary talent, an extraordinary voice and extraordinary beauty. We will be able to admire this magnificent trio in Zgorzelec in a programme entitled “ZOO”. The concert will consist entirely of songs by Agnieszka Osiecka, brilliantly interpreted by Katarzyna Groniec. We will hear, among others, “Wielka woda”, “Kokaina”, “Dzikuska”, “ZOO” and “Uciekaj moje serce”.
The songs were arranged by Łukasz Damrych (keyboards). The musical ensemble also includes Tomasz Pierzchniak (double bass) and Łukasz Sobolak (drums). The premiere of the ZOO concert took place during the Gala Concert of the 17th “Pamiętajmy o Osieckiej” Competition at the Palladium Theatre in Warsaw on 29 September 2014. Katarzyna Groniec will perform by the Nysa as part of Zgorzelec Theatre Meetings. 26 October (Sunday), 6:00 p.m., tickets cost PLN 30.
