– We urgently need such a vehicle. It will serve as a dedicated firefighting vehicle, because none of those we currently have can carry such a large volume of water – as much as 3.5 tonnes. Since it will be adapted for off-road use, it will solve the problem of driving across meadows, fields and flooded or waterlogged areas, where the Star that has served us so far would simply get stuck – says Tomasz Szymczak, chief of the Volunteer Fire Service in Ścinawa.

The new vehicle will replace the already worn-out Star, which the firefighters from Ścinawa will give free of charge to a friendly unit in Zaborowo. The new rescue and firefighting vehicle will cost the County more than PLN 600,000.

– As I have repeatedly said, the safety of residents is the most important thing, and I mean not only healthcare safety, but also the safety provided by the police and fire service units. An off-road vehicle will be purchased because it will operate mainly on uneven terrain, which will significantly facilitate and speed up rescue operations – says Adam Myrda, starost of Lubin County.

Let us recall that a few days ago the Ścinawa unit also received a new light Ford Ranger special rescue and firefighting vehicle worth more than PLN 240,000. The purchase was financed by the Ścinawa Municipal and District Office, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

– On Monday, we also received a new light vehicle that will be used to tow our boat. Until now, we used a worn-out Żuk for this purpose, so this will make our work in the field much easier – adds Tomasz Szymczak.
