16 October at 6:00 p.m. there will be a film screening with jazz in the background—the story of Charlie Parker in Clint Eastwood’s film “Bird”; the following day (17 October), Witold Janiak Trio will perform there in the “Cinema Meets Jazz” programme. It starts at 7:00 p.m.. Tickets cost PLN 25.
Witold Janiak is a jazz pianist and winner of the grand prix at, among others, Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa and Krokus Jazz Festival, as well as the Jazz Oscar awarded by Stowarzyszenie Melomani for his latest album, “Cinema Meets Jazz”. The album was very well received, as demonstrated by the fact that it was named album of the week on Polish Radio’s Trójka and Kalisz’s Radio Centrum, album of the month on Radio Zachód, and the first jazz album of the week in the history of Radio Łódź.
The first pressing was distributed by “Jazz Forum” magazine; the second sold out two months after the album entered distribution. The album has been very well received both by jazz lovers and by all those hearing this kind of music for the first time. The young musicians Rafał Różalski and Kamil Miszewski, who play with Witold Janiak, have already participated in many jazz festivals in Poland and abroad despite their young age.
