Karate athletes from Legnica’s Tora club won 4 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals during the XIII International WKF Shotokan Cup – Sokol Vamberk Karate Tournament held in the Czech Republic.
The competition brought together 320 athletes from 28 karate clubs in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Slovakia. The Legnica Tora Club was represented by 16 athletes, who achieved a series of victories, winning 4 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. It was one of the trials included in the competition schedule ahead of the 2014 Polish Championships in Legnica.
The gold medals were won by: Mateusz Szczygieł (junior kumite – 75 kg), Artur Trubicki (senior kumite – 84 kg), the girls’ cadet team (Aleksandra Macuga, Kamila Klin, Barbara Dylewicz) and the boys’ cadet team (Piotr Stężycki, Jakub Maliński, Patryk Papros). Second places were won by: Martyna Gibasiewicz (girls’ youth kumite +35 kg), Patryk Stohnij (boys’ youth kumite +41 kg) and the boys’ cadet team (Patryk Stohnij, Dawid Król, Bartek Król). Third places went to: Nikola Kozłowska (girls’ youth kumite –35 kg), Aleksandra Macuga (girls’ cadet kumite +48 kg), Bartek Król (kumite –35 kg) and Jakub Maliński (boys’ youth kumite –41 kg).
