A ceremony unveiling a plaque commemorating 84 priests murdered in the Eastern Borderlands of the Second Polish Republic by Ukrainian nationalists of the OUN-UPA between 1939 and 1947 will take place on Sunday, 5 October, in Czerwona Woda (Węgliniec Municipality).
Ceremony programme:
- 13:00 – Holy Mass at the parish church in Czerwona Woda; the homily will be delivered by Father Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski
- 14:30 – unveiling of the commemorative plaque and the Avenue of Remembrance
- 15:00 – laying flowers and lighting candles
- 15:30 – speeches by invited guests
- 16:00 – conclusion of the ceremony – Rota
- 16:30 – meeting of invited guests and sponsors at the “Jagoda” Centre in Czerwona Woda.
The ceremony will be enhanced by a performance from the Bytom-based Tiligentne Batiary ensemble, which will present songs from the Eastern Borderlands.
