Several minutes after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the Bolesławiec fire service received a report that a body was floating in the Bóbr River near the bridge on Zgorzelecka Street. The drowning victim's body had caught on a tree branch. Firefighters pulled the victim ashore. Police established that the man recovered from the river was a 58-year-old resident of Bolesławiec.
It is not yet known whether the man's drowning was the result of an accident or possibly suicide. Police have ruled out the involvement of third parties. More details in the case will be known after Thursday's autopsy.
