As is customary in the Bogatynia Municipality, just before the official start of the harvest festival, a presentation was held of the harvest wreaths brought by representatives of the individual villages. The wreaths competed for the title of the most beautiful wreath.
The jury, chaired by Henryk Dumin, an ethnologist and expert on folk traditions, decided that all the wreaths impressed with their beauty and precision of execution. However, the most beautiful harvest wreath was made by the village of Kopaczów.
The village of Krzewina took second place, while Lutogniewice came third. MP Marzena Machałek, who honored Saturday's celebrations with her presence, also helped select the most beautiful wreath. Prizes and distinctions were also awarded in the “Produce from the Field, Orchard and Garden” competition.
A pleasant part of the harvest festival celebrations was honoring farmers who, following a request from Mayor of the City and Municipality of Bogatynia Andrzej Grzmielewicz, received the honorary badges “Meritorious for Agriculture,” awarded by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The badges were awarded to: Jadwiga Czech, Adam Dziętło, Józef Ganiberzin, Eugeniusz Warda, Henryk Winiecki, Marian Boryczewski, Edward Wąsicki, Tadeusz Borsuk and Edward Borsuk. That day, many farmers from our municipality also received thanks and congratulations from Mayor Andrzej Grzmielewicz.
In a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere, those gathered also enjoyed the Village Tournament. The competitions provided plenty of laughter, healthy rivalry and excellent entertainment, with the village of Posada earning the most points.
The 2014 Municipal Harvest Festival ended with a shared celebration lasting until dawn. More photos on the UGiM Bogatynia website.
