The film “Miasto 44” is a universal story about youth, love, courage and sacrifice, set during the Warsaw Uprising. It is a film project of unprecedented scale in Poland in terms of set design, costumes and visual effects.

The film “Miasto 44” tells the story of young Poles who came of age in the cruel realities of the occupation. Despite this, they are full of life, passionate and impatient. They live as if each day might prove to be their last. This is not, however, the result of excessive bravado or youthful recklessness—such an attitude is natural in the reality surrounding them, where death threatens at every turn.

The special-effects consultant for “Miasto 44” was the outstanding Hollywood specialist Richard Bain, who had previously worked with such visionary filmmakers as Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson and Terry Gilliam and whose credits include effects for the worldwide cinematic hits “Casino Royale” and “Inception”. More than three thousand extras appeared on set. Ten separate crews worked on constructing the impressive sets, using 5,000 tons of rubble to recreate the destroyed city. A detailed schedule is available on the Forum cinema website.

The film was made under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski.
