– 75 years ago, hordes of the German army entered Poland from across the western border, and 17 days later the armies of Nazi Germany were already parading. Today, we look east across the border with concern, because Russia has entered Ukraine’s internal conflict. Let us hope this is not a cover for what happened exactly 75 years ago – said Lubin County head Adam Myrda during the ceremony.
Veterans, together with residents and representatives of Lubin County, laid flowers and paid tribute to those who died.
The solemn laying of flowers was preceded by the singing of the national anthem and a poetic and musical performance by two female students, prepared especially for the occasion.
This year’s commemoration of the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II stirred exceptional emotions and prompted reflection – not only because of the memory of what happened, but also because of what may happen.
