Victor Ashe visited Bolesławiec on Thursday. The ambassador came to our city accompanied by employees of the US Consulate in Kraków, who organized his visit to Lower Silesia. Bolesławiec President Piotr Roman presented the ambassador with the city’s history and traditions, as well as its cultural, tourist and investment assets.

As an interesting fact, he mentioned that a US ambassador had also visited Bolesławiec 206 years ago. At that time, the then US ambassador to Berlin, John Quincy Adams, was visiting Bolesławiec. He was making a seven-day journey through Silesia, which he later described in letters. A quarter of a century after that event, John Quincy Adams became the sixth president of the United States. To commemorate his stay in Bolesławiec, Victor Ashe received a hand-decorated cup featuring the rich patterns of Bolesławiec pottery as a gift.
