Węgliniec Railway Protection Guard officers found and secured nearly two tonnes of stolen railway components at a scrap yard in Bolesławiec County, including screws, base plates, fishplates, washers and points components.

SOK officers established that the recovered track components had been stolen on 11 August at Węgliniec station. Further proceedings in the case are being conducted by police officers from Nowogrodziec. The perpetrators may face up to five years in prison.

It turns out that PKP Spółka did not report the theft. In addition, the scrap yard owners state that SOK officers did not secure any scrap, and that the elements they discovered were old and few in number. They had been dug out of the ground by the seller. We will report further developments.
