At the final inspection held on Wednesday, 27 August, residents—mainly young footballers—were present, along with representatives of the company that built the pitch and city authorities, including deputy mayors – Jadwiga Zienkiewicz and Ryszard Białek. The contractor was required to make minor corrections. It was also agreed that next spring the grass would be reseeded and the surface rolled once again.
“We have already played on this pitch,” say residents of the Sienkiewicza housing estate. “Now we need to take care of this facility.”
The pitch measures 20 by 40 metres and is fenced off from the street side. Two metal goals have been installed. There are also benches and rubbish bins. The area around the pitch has been mown. The contractor had previously experienced problems, as we reported, with handing over the facility on time. It had to deal with weeds that had grown on the turf along with the grass. They were removed using chemical agents.
Let us recall that, as part of the first edition of the LBO, residents of this part of the city selected three proposals: the construction of the pitch at Goździkowa Street and the projects completed earlier—the construction of a pavement and lighting at 17-19-21 Okrężna Street, and a playground at Wielogórska Street.
