Legnica’s Universities of the Third Age have prepared a very attractive offer for their students, whose number grows every year. This is becoming an increasingly popular way to gain knowledge, spend time actively and meet new friends.

The Legnica University of the Third Age at the Centre for Vocational and Continuing Education (26 Lotnicza Street) has been operating for eight years. LUTW is a local-government public continuing-education institution that encourages older people to remain active. In the 2014/2015 academic year, around 200 returning students and more than 70 new students declared their intention to attend lectures and classes. Recruitment continues only until the end of August.

The university offers lectures in psychology, philosophy, social sciences, philological and historical studies, health prevention, as well as general lectures. It offers students language courses in English, German, Russian, Italian and French. There are computer classes, digital-photography courses, art-history classes, mind-training, painting and ceramics. Participants can join choir, decorating and physical-activity classes, theatrical and literary workshops, learn about styling and image creation, take part in regional education and tourism, develop their own family tree or study dietetics.

In 2010, the “Appassionata” choir was established at LUTW. It currently has 30 members and achieves national success. The high standard of lectures and seminars is guaranteed by academics from, among others, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the University of Wrocław, the University of Opole and the State Higher Vocational School in Legnica.

The University of the Third Age operating at the Witelon State University of Applied Sciences has also prepared a rich offer for its students. Here, recruitment will run from 1 to 30 September. The university holds lectures, seminars, discussions, academic conferences and meetings with people from science, culture, politics, sport and the media. It also offers opportunities for active tourism. Anyone can become a student, especially a pensioner or disability pensioner, regardless of their level of education.
