On Saturday, 23 August at 6:00 p.m., the City History Department at 14 Kutuzowa Street will host the opening of the jubilee exhibition “50 Years of Ceramic and Sculpture Open-Air Workshops in Bolesławiec.” This remarkable exhibition is an attempt to summarize an exceptionally long and productive period of artistic activity by ceramic artists in Bolesławiec.

Over the half-century history of the ceramic and sculpture open-air workshops in Bolesławiec, several hundred world-class artists from around the globe have taken part. The event changed in status and scope, eventually earning the designation of international open-air workshops.

The exhibition’s curator is Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter, a distinguished ceramic artist and longtime commissioner of the Bolesławiec open-air workshops Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter. The exhibition will be accompanied by a jubilee catalogue containing essays and short biographies of the artists who participated in the open-air workshops.

In addition, during the Ceramic Festival, on Friday and Saturday, the Museum will organize free craft workshops. Ceramic classes will be held in the garden of the Ceramics Department at 13 Mickiewicza Street, focusing on creating a model of the town hall and the tenement houses of Bolesławiec Market Square. Demonstrations of jewelry-making will take place in the courtyard of the City History Department at Kutuzowa Street. The Museum of Ceramics’ workshop station will also be set up in Bolesławiec Market Square.

Additionally, during the Ceramic Festival, visitors are invited to tour the permanent exhibitions of the City History Department and the Ceramics Department free of charge. They will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and from Friday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
