On January 1, near Iwiny, the driver of a Chrysler Voyager ran over a 16-year-old boy. The young man died at the scene. The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known. The police are investigating. On the same day, in Bolesławiec on Daszyńskiego Street, police officers detained a drunk driver. The 27-year-old man was driving a Fiat 126p with a blood alcohol level of 1.8 per mille.

On New Year's Day, several people who underwent medical examinations after minor assaults were admitted to the emergency department of the County Hospital. No one was injured by firecrackers or fireworks this year. Some of the New Year's patients complained of feeling unwell and having stomach problems; however, hospital staff assessed the start of the new year as relatively calm.

Firefighters described the beginning of the new year as very calm. On New Year's Eve, the Bolesławiec fire service did not respond to any incidents. On the first day of the new year, a minor road accident occurred. On II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street, the driver of a Volskwagen Golf veered into a ditch. Three people traveling in the Golf were assisted by the emergency medical service.
