A request from the Bolesławiec branch of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association to grant Hubert Bonin honorary citizenship was submitted to the Council office on October 13. The request was supplemented with the publication "Bolesławiecka Jedynka and Its Scoutmaster Hubert Bonin".
Hubert Bonin was one of the first residents of Bolesławiec to arrive directly from the west, where, as a prisoner of the Stuthoff concentration camp, he had been evacuated by barges along the maritime route of death. He took part in rebuilding the post-war city. He founded the first drugstore in Bolesławiec and was also the creator of Polish scouting in our county. He raised hundreds of citizens of the city and the country. To his former charges as well as to today’s young people, he is an unquestionable authority.
The honorary citizens of Bolesławiec include: Dean Father Władysław Rączka, Dean Father Edward Bober, Adam Wacław Kowalski, Ryszard Tomczyk, and former Siegburg mayor Rolf Krieger.
