These distinctions are a prestigious form of recognition for outstanding contributions to the comprehensive development of the city, promoting its achievements in Poland and abroad, work for public safety and social activities for the benefit of residents.
The Legnica City Award may be granted to a natural person, a legal person or an entity without legal personality. The remaining distinctions are awarded to natural persons.
Those entitled to nominate candidates are:
- the mayor
- the Chairman of the Municipal Council
- councillors’ clubs
- Council committees
- a group of at least 5 councillors
- political and social organisations, associations, trade unions and religious organisations
- a group of 200 Legnica residents, using the application form template attached as Appendix No. 8 to the Legnica Statute.
Candidates for the distinctions are reviewed and presented to the Council by the Committee for the Chapter and Statute. Applications, together with their justification, are accepted by
- the Council Office at the Legnica City Hall (pl. Słowiański 8, room 224, 2nd floor)
- the City Hall Registry Office, pl. Słowiański 8; information is available by telephone at 76 72 12 130.

Let us recall: last year, the title of Honorary Citizen of Legnica was awarded posthumously to Wacław Makowski. The City Award was not granted. The badges of merit for Legnica were awarded to: Kazimierz Bielecki, Monika Kuligowska, Beata Łabowicz, Tadeusz Spendowski and Władysław Szudrowicz.
