The “Świętokrzyska Golgotha” oratorio is dedicated to Pope John Paul II. The text is based on the teachings of the Polish Pope and the Gospels, and refers to the legend of the relics of the Holy Cross. The concert features a 70-member choir, a symphony orchestra and vocalists—in total, more than 150 people.

In Bolesławiec, the concert will be performed by the choir of the Institute of Music Education of the Świętokrzyska Academy and the Kielce Chamber Choir “Fermata,” prepared by Ewa Robak; the Orchestra of the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra, conducted by Piotr Rubik. The soloists will be Joanna Słowińska, Dorota Marczyk, Janusz Radek and Maciej Miecznikowski. Paweł Deląg will be the narrator. The concert will take place on 14 January at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 1 Zamkowy Square.

“We are working very hard to ensure that the concert is perfect. We regard it as the most important cultural event of 2006 in our city,” says Iwona Bojko of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre.

Unfortunately, there are no tickets left for the concert. An additional allocation may be prepared, but this will not be known until 2 January. Information will be provided at telephone number 075 64421 45.

Boleslawiec.org and Local Television “Azart-Sat” are the event’s media patrons.
