We have written several times about plans to build an athletics field at the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. mjra Henryka Sucharskiego in Bolesławiec (including in the article The athletics field will be built in Bolesławiec).
Unfortunately, the tender for this project has just been cancelled. “The most advantageous bid submitted exceeded the funds allocated in the budget,” Radosław Palczewski , acting head of the Investments and Public Procurement Department at the Bolesławiec County Office, said in an interview with “ii”. “Under public procurement law, we could not award this tender. We wanted to carry out the work this year, but it was not possible.”
However, as Radosław Palczewski stresses, this does not mean that the athletics field will not be built. “This is a very important and necessary project,” the official notes. At a session of the Bolesławiec County Council scheduled for 11 July, the local government will propose that councillors change the scope of the project, namely spread it over two years.
If the councillors approve the proposal, the County will announce another tender. Then, if everything goes according to plan, the most demanding construction work related to preparing the site will be carried out this year, while in 2015 the stage involving construction of the running track and athletics facilities will be completed.
