It is worth recalling that the renovation of the market-square tenement houses is the result of grants from the city budget for conservation work on historic buildings entered in the register of monuments. This year, seven housing communities will receive funding for the renovation of tenement houses. The communities are located at: 9 Kościelna Street, 10 Kościelna Street, 11/12 Kościelna Street, 13/14 Rynek, 1/2 Prusa Street, 3 Prusa Street and 4 Prusa Street.

Two parishes will also receive funding for conservation work. Renovation work will be continued by the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas on Kościelna Street, as well as by the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Zamkowy Square. The renovations are being carried out as part of the “New Old Town” programme.

The “New Old Town” programme was adopted by the Bolesławiec City Council in 2006. One stage of the programme is the renovation of the market-square tenement houses, the scope of which has been divided into two parts: renovation of the roof structure and roofing, and renovation of façades, stone details and architectural details, as well as filling in missing elements.

The community’s completion of the renovation of the roof structure and roofing is a condition for receiving funding for the renovation of the façade. Renovation work is carried out on the basis of preserved archival materials, including plans, photographs and documentation approved by the Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments, using original details and renovation materials. The conservation work is intended to restore the damaged or altered building to its former architectural form, artistic value and utility.
