The reconstruction of Podgórna and Zygmunta Augusta streets lasted more than two months. Driving along both streets, where the asphalt had been removed, was very difficult. A week after our article “The Reconstruction of Podgórna Is Driving Drivers Crazy” was published, the renovation was completed.

Before last week’s article was published, district head Dariusz Kwaśniewski apologised for the prolonged road renovation... on Facebook. He also blamed the gas utility. Instead of answering what the office had done to speed up the work, the district office spokesperson sent us a note from the district’s website.

Readers sharply criticised the way the streets were being renovated. The user “Z Podgórnej” wrote: As our party colleague used to say, “Ch. D. I a pile of stones,” Mr District Head! Ambulances are getting wrecked on this road because they have to reach the hospital quickly. Take care of this district instead of campaigning before the election. Life happens in the street, not on Facebook!

Wujek Samo Zło wrote: The “gas company” was carrying out some work at the edge of the roadway and pavement, and of course the surface could not be repaired until that work was finished. The only question is: why the fuck was the entire surface milled, and so sloppily at that, even before the gas network renovation? A roadway in that condition should have been closed to traffic because it posed a threat to users’ property and health.

The user 92 stated: It takes a lot of ill will or a complete lack of imagination to organise the renovation of this street like this. They started completely unnecessarily by carelessly milling the surface, solely to make drivers’ lives miserable. The road workers removed the surface and have done absolutely nothing for weeks. The gas workers are no better; there is no one from them there all day. What is happening there is an absolute scandal!

This is what the renovated street looked like on Friday afternoon. There were still no painted lines, but it was already passable.
