On June 14–15, the Open Summer Championships of the Lower Silesian District Swimming Association were held in Wrocław, where the UKS Oxpress swimmers performed excellently. Preparing for the Polish Swimming Championships, pupils of Krzysztof Wróbel and Wiktor Łodyga won four medals. Iza Tkaczyk performed excellently, winning the silver medal in the 100 m freestyle (1:01.98), finishing just 0.02 behind the winner. The result is currently the second-best in Poland among 14-year-olds. Iza also won the silver medal in the 200 m individual medley (2:31.04), bronze in the 50 m freestyle (28.77 s), and fourth place in the 100 m backstroke (1:10.92). Our swimmer finished fifth in the final classification of the championships’ best competitors.
– The result in the 100 m freestyle makes me particularly happy because I improved my personal best by almost 3 seconds, which does not happen often over such a relatively short distance. I was only 5 points short of reaching 600 FINA points. We are currently training hard, and I trust that after reducing the training load, things should be even better. If only my health holds up – said Iza.
Recovering after an illness, Agata Knapik won the bronze medal in the 400 m individual medley (5:39.79), as well as sixth place in the 50 m butterfly (32.04 s) and seventh in the 100 m butterfly (1:12.12).
In increasingly better form is Klaudia Petters, who, in the grueling 800 m freestyle, only had to concede to four fellow competitors in the final 100 meters, ultimately taking fifth place (10:20.88). The swimmer also took eighth place in the 200 m backstroke (2:42.77) and the 400 m freestyle (5:06.65).
