“There Be Dragons” is a film by renowned director Roland Joffé, twice nominated for an Oscar for The Mission and The Killing Fields. The film was inspired by the youth of Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei.

Journalist Robert Torres sets off on a journey to Spain. He is to meet his father, Manolo Torres, there, but above all he will be looking for material for his book. It might seem to be a story like many others, but not when the book’s protagonist is to be Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei.

The whole story is shrouded in an aura of mystery, and once again we are convinced that probably nothing in life happens by accident. It turns out that Robert’s father not only grew up in the same city as Josemaría, but was also his best friend in childhood. How did it happen that one of the friends chose the path of the priesthood, while the other became involved in a brutal civil war? With each passing moment, Robert comes closer to discovering the surprising truth.
