The holiday season is in full swing. The weather has finally improved, so many people are heading off on holiday. Where to? There are many possibilities. “For several years now, the most popular countries have been Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia,” says Agnieszka Furman-Zając, owner of the Piramida travel agency. “They are attractive in terms of price and more popular than the more expensive Greece and Spain. Customers most often ask about two-week stays,” adds Agnieszka Furman-Zając. Bulgaria is becoming increasingly popular; because of its low costs, it is chosen particularly by young people.

Book Early

There are buyers for both cheaper trips and those whose prices start at two thousand zlotys. This year, customers accustomed to last-minute offers are the most disappointed: there are few of them, and they are less attractive than catalogue offers. The first-minute system is a new development—booking a trip earlier guarantees very favorable terms.

Higher Standard

The situation is similar at other travel agencies in Bolesławiec—Egypt and Bulgaria are the most frequently chosen destinations, primarily because of the price. A two-week stay in a four-star hotel in Skarm-en-Sheik costs just under two thousand zlotys, including the flight. For a two-week stay in Bulgaria, we have to reckon with an expense of around 1,300 zlotys. Prices are comparable to those in Poland, while the quality of services is significantly higher, so it is hardly surprising that many people opt for an offer abroad. The weather is also important—on the Baltic coast, it is often unpredictable.

Contrary to expectations, interest in holidays in Arab countries has not declined. Some people are afraid of terrorism, but such cases are sporadic. Immediately after the tragedy of “September 11,” however, the number of airline offers sold fell significantly.

Independently

There is no shortage of people who prefer to organize their holiday trips themselves. This solution is much cheaper and guarantees independence. Many young people organize trips to places that are less popular than Greece and Spain but equally interesting. The Czech Republic and Slovakia have long been very popular, and many people travel to Crimea. Price plays a key role, but taking a break from commercialized tourism and spending free time in an unconventional way are also important.
