On Sunday morning, a delegation of soldiers from the 23rd Artillery Regiment set off to participate in the 3rd Veterans’ Bicycle Rally. Over the next four days, the soldiers will have to cover nearly 400 kilometres by bicycle, finishing the rally in Szczecin together with veterans from other military units.
This year’s rally is being attended by a three-person group of artillery veterans (consisting of Sergeant Tomasz Kędziora, Senior Corporal Adam Kopeć and Senior Private Rafał Stempak). They must complete four stages of nearly 100 kilometres each.
The cyclists left the unit’s gates in the presence of their loved ones, who promised to keep their fingers crossed for them all the way to the finish line. They will cross it on 28 May together with soldiers from other units, who—often travelling from distant garrisons—are taking part to honour the memory of those killed and injured in operations outside the country. This year’s 3rd Veterans’ Bicycle Rally will finish in Szczecin, where the Central Observances of Veterans of Operations Outside the Country Day and the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers will be held.
